Mr. Charles Eli MALTBY had the distinction of being the head of the MALTBY family descended from the emigrant William (1) MALTBY, he being the eldest son of an eldest son to leave male issue. His son, Chauncy Henry MALTBY, would, as his eldest son, inherit this distinc- tion.
